Come ride with us in the beautiful Carson National Forest. This is one of our most popular adventures. For starters, you get to choose the length of ride you want: 1 Hour, 2 Hour, 1/2 Day and even All Day rides in the beautiful Valle Vidal! Your personal guide will take you through breathtaking scenery, where you'll see a variety of wildlife, and experience the land where the deer and elk play.

Ride to the top of the RED RIVER SKI AREA 2 or 4 hour rides

Serving the outdoor enthusiast for over 30 years, the Red River Stables invites you to come ride the scenic Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico the way it was done 100 years ago - on horseback!

Rides are available for all levels from beginner to the most experienced riders. We offer a wide range of options from hourly rides to all day treks. You can combine your ride with fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing. We even offer some winter rides, weather permitting.

We are Licensed and Insured to operate on Carson National Forest.

Horse boarding is available for $20 per night per horse.

We offer a variety of guided horseback tours (winter too):

1 HOUR TOUR:

We have rides leaving the stables daily at 9 am, 10:30 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm and 4 pm. This is our most popular ride. The trail climbs 400+ feet offering beautiful vistas of Red River and the ski area.
Price: $35 per horse - (all prices include tax)

3 HOUR TOUR:

The Elephant Rock Trail is a great ride for beginners to intermediate riders.
Price: $90 per horse

4, 6, and 8 HOUR TOURS:

The Columbine Trail crosses Columbine Creek and winds up in mountain high meadows. The Columbine Canyon Trail is a paradise.

Middle Fork Lake and Wheeler Peak Ride

Ride to Middle Fork Lake and enjoy wonderful Trout Fishing (cutthroat and rainbow) in a remote high mountain lake. Pack a lunch, or we can provide one. An adventure for the true sportsman - not to be missed.

Wheeler Peak Ride and Hike

Ride the East Fork Trail to the Wheeler Peak Wilderness Boundary. We drop you off so that you can hike up to the top of Wheeler Peak, and fish Horseshoe Lake or Lost Lake.
